What's the point of

The Edge?

Our goal is to give campers a safe environment where they can take risks and grow.  It is an opportunity to learn about trust, leadership, grace, love, communication, truth, and other practical life lessons. Through journaling and small group discussions you will have the opportunity to process experiences and discover valuable and lasting life lessons.

What sort of activities will

we do?

Throughout the week, you will spend days climbing and rappelling, kayaking, doing low and high ropes, and other fun and challenging activities.  While most campers only get to experience these things for a short time, we will spend more time being adventurous, which means you will experience more high ropes than anyone else, and will be able to learn skills for climbing and rappelling, like how to tie knots and belay.

How will we be challenged spiritually?

You will have small group Bible Studies designed just for you: be discipled by counselors and other staff to hold firmly to and understand God’s truth and it’s relevance in our lives everyday. Daily Chapel: learn and grow in Christ-likeness that you may be a witness to God’s glory in your walk with Him. Missions sessions that will train you in Evangelism: be challenged not only to be disciples, but to go out and make disciples as well, as you receive training and instruction in evangelism and discipleship. Each night you will also have discussions about the day's activities to talk about spiritual applications, growth, and how the activities will impact you after camp is over.

Where will we sleep?

You will be assigned to a tent group with counselors (just like in a cabin).  You will be given instruction on how to build your own tent with materials we supply.  You will have a roof and a floor cover, and depending on how creative you are, your tent could even have walls and a door.

Where will our

tents be?

The tents will be built by the Big Sandy Creek, past the Rec Center.  There will be a designated area for girls and guys.

What about bathrooms?

While on campus you will be able to use the bathrooms in the Rec Center, including sinks, showers, and toilets.

Where will we

eat our meals?

It's an adventure camp, part of the adventure will be building your own fires and cooking your own meals.  We will supply the cookware and food, and you will cook and prepare meals with cook group each day.

Will I still have

free time?

Yes, it might come at different times throughout the day, but you will have ample free time to swim, play in the Rec Center, or just relax around camp.

Why do I have to

fill out a special application for

The Edge?

We ask you to fill out an application, because this camp is for those who are spiritually mature and ready and desirous of growing deeper in their relationship with Christ.  It is also more physically challenging, so we want to make sure you are able to meet that challenge.

What happens if

the weather is

bad?

The tents you build will be sufficient to keep out rain.  However, if there is a severe storm, other shelters and buildings will be readily accessible.

What will I need to pack?

When you register, we will send you a complete check list of things you will need to bring to camp.  Click here for a PDF version of the Packing List.
